Wilderness in Arizona
3 Oct 2014
6:00 pm-7:30 pm Located at: Yavapai Title Conference Room
What is wilderness? What does it mean to citizens? Meg Weesner will relate the role and history of 90 designated Wilderness Areas in Arizona, covering 4.5 million acres of federal land. Arizona is one of only five states that have wilderness areas managed by all four federal wilderness agencies. This year is the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act, and Meg will describe some of the celebrations and activities that Sierra Club members have been planning around the state.
Meg Weesner, a 35-year life member of the Sierra Club, is the Grand Canyon Chapter’s Wilderness 50th Anniversary coordinator. She is retired following a 34-year career in the National Park Service.
Organization: Yavapai Group Sierra Club
