11 Sep 2013
9:00 am-12:00 pm Located at: Heights Church
Attention Faith Community and churches of the greater Prescott area:
The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) is beginning an integrated effort to reinvent the current safety net system in our state.
DES Director Clarence Carter is hosting an open Community Forum in Prescott on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Heights Church, 2121 Larry Caldwell Drive, Prescott 86301 (the church is located between Prescott and Prescott Valley).
This forum will focus on an overview of the problems within the design and operation of the current safety net for those in poverty. There will also be a discussion with the faith community about how to begin collaborative efforts with The Open Table model, in this work.
The objective of this effort is to transform Arizona’s safety net system from one that focuses on the delivery of benefits, goods and services to one that will improve Arizonans’ quality of life.
DES, with the support and engagement of the faith community, will implement a Demonstration Project in select areas of the state, (Prescott Valley, South Phoenix and Tucson), to develop and refine this new effort for gaining a level of self-sufficiency and freedom from public assistance.
Please join us for this gathering of leaders representing government, philanthropy, business, education, faith and community service. Please contact Regina Weiler at 602-542-5109 or via email at Rweiler@azdes.gov for more information.
